About the Project
Following the milestones of the previous program, the RabCast project aims to assist the CVO and its partners in achieving a rabies-free Davao City. The main objective of the project is to provide a proof-of-concept for a forecasting tool to predict the rabies cases in the city that can be used to formulate pro-active strategies for rabies control. The team developed this rabies dashboard to communicate the results to CVO and the public from mathematical, statistical, spatial, and genomic analysis in a more refined and comprehensive manner.

The RabCast Project is an initiative of the University of the Philippines Mindanao (UPMin) as the implementing agency and funded by the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Council for Health Research and Development. The project is a continuation of the CHED-funded STOP Rabies program (2018-2020) in collaboration with the Davao City Veterinarian's Office (CVO) and Philippine Genome Center - Mindanao Satellite Facility. The team also partnered with pet advocate groups in the city such as Pawsitivity
